When one business closes, another one opens…

Millie Dee Photography Studio in Morris County, NJ is not taking on any more clients and our doors will officially close March 2026. The Question as to “WHY” is quite a loaded one. Here’s a big part of the story…

I’ve been passionate about photography ever since high school, so to have it as a job, well, I thought would be a dream. It turned into more than a dream, but such a learning experience as I just kept plowing forward, devouring new knowledge of how to use my camera, better lighting styles, better editing styles, how to manage a business, where to get the best props, how to better pose a newborn, were some of the things I have tried to be my best at, and to develop a style and for my style of photography to connect with others out there in the world was my dream come true as an artist. I’ve had many training sessions, classes, mentors that shared their secrets to a successful newborn and maternity photography business, and I learned, and I put into action the best I could through the years.

I knew I couldn’t do this forever, nor did I want to. I don’t know how many other people have ideas and dreams they’d like to try but I knew at some point, either my back or knees may give out from bending, or I may not be able to keep up with the new styles, new equipment, etc. and I’d offered the business to another photographer, but that never flourished. Having a small business is alot of things, on top of being a mom, wife, and managing alot on the home front. That’s what happened…I got older, and I feel I’ve lost touch with the client base, my teen kids need me more than ever. I am in my “driving era” as a Mom…for those of you with busy teens, I’m sure you understand! haha. I’m buying my time as my youngest is 16 and just 5 months away from a driver’s license.

As a parent that drives a lot with my kids, some of the best conversations we’ve had have been in the car. I cherish every car ride and will forever cherish this time as I will never get this time back.

If you know me, or anyone like me, you know that there’s a type of person that is filled with ideas…they just spontaneously appear in my head and I must start creating….So, right now I had 4 ideas in the works, I’m down to 3. I was SO close to putting out an app that helped people at home take newborn photos of their babies, and also how to take maternity photos and headshots at home. Long story short, even though I did a lot of research on the app company, I was duped, and cut ties before there was anymore damage done. an expensive $10k lesson learned.

Now I’m on to project #2, www.nuttonz.com, and it’s going to change the way we wear our sports bras and swimsuit tops, ladies! Nuttonz is a fastener that actually holds…in…those…removable…pads! They will never ghost you in the wash again! you can check it out www.nuttonz.com. it’s juuust getting started, infact I have to make some choices on packaging this week. This is why I’m closing the business at this time, I cannot dedicate time to both businesses as this new one is starting to get traction.

www.nuttonz.com‍ ‍revolutionary patent pending bra pad fastener to hold those bra pads in place.

Any fellow inventors/entreprenuers out there? I’d love to chat…. Anyway, let me go, today 1/26/26 is a snow day and I’m being beckoned to go pick up some of the kids’ friends. Another car ride! I love it!

Thanks for reading. ENJOY your life! xoxo
