When I get an inquiry, One of the first things I ask is how do you envision your photos? May times I get the answer, uh...maybe just digitals? I haven't really thought about it. Which is fine, that's why you're calling in a professional to capture these precious moments of your lifetime, right? I don't just have a client sign up for photos and enter the studio, not that's way too easy. I want to get into your head and your heart and find out what your passions are, what you love and what you don't...This is how I get YOU and your style into your photos and your baby's photos. Moms and Dads are always willing to share their stories on getting ready for their first or next baby, and I'm like a sponge gathering all of that insight. I have goals for my valued clients through every step of our process, from our first talk, through sharing ideas, through the session itself, where mom gets pampered with hair and makeup and Dad can sit back in the lounge, take a nap, watch tv, eat or have a cup of coffee. As I'm working with a trusted assistant with your baby, I'm getting to learn a bit about the little one, too. Are they chill? Are they awake, hungry, curious or upset...We work around the baby and only pose them in poses they'll allow us to put them in. I have all of the props and outfits we'll ever need, too. It's kind of an obsession getting to buy all of the little pillows, bonnets and outfits we use through the session. Do you have colors in mind? I'll ask you for sure. This is such a fleeting time in your life and your babe's life as they are growing bigger and stronger by the day. These sleepy baby poses are usually taken within the first 2 weeks of life. What do you need to know about newborn portraits and getting ready for a session? Well, we understand moms and dads are super busy. Most of the calls and inquiries I do get are from women, I'll say that and the Dads are here smiling and curious through the session waiting for their turn for photos as we do include family portraits as well. It's probably the most important picture that you'll ever have on the walls in your home, your family portrait. We've had dogs in the studio, too to be included in their family's photos are they're of course a part of the family. These are photos that as time goes by, you're going to cherish more and more as the kids and pets get older, we age somehow, too. ha. Soon enough they're growing out of the bottle stage and onto the pre school stage, meeting new friends and bringing home a noodle necklace for mother's day. Then starting scouts or sports and having their first struggles of shyness or learning something new that's difficult for them. Then they hit around 8 yrs old and they turn into little giggly minions and you hear stories about the playground and going to back to school night and reading the poem they wrote about you on the wall in their classroom. And the first person they really really like....and have their first trip away from you, out with friends going ice skating or to the movies, then the hormones start to hit and they get self conscious and are so worried about pimples and hair styles and ugh, social media, the downfall of us humans! And they're graduating 8th grade and You start looking through all of the pictures, all the way back to these...when they were little babies, when you carried them for 9 months...and You're amazed at how much you remember from their birth and their little features and personality traits that you still see in them today.... It all goes so fast....too fast....Thank God for all the pictures. I still go through my home and stop and sit and look at the canvases on the wall and remember those times...what they were like back then... I have a big canvas of my two kids from when they were 2 & 4 and they re sitting in a barn and my son is in his socks...they have little nutcrackers on them and he's holding a snow globe...I remember he hated the shoes and they kept falling off anyway, so we didn't bother to put them back on his feet for the picture...and my daughter had a pink strip in her hair for October's breast cancer awareness month and She was wearing a beautiful navy dress and these fancy shoes that looked like ladybugs and she loved those shoes, she never wanted to take them off. I can hear their giggles from these times....I get all teary eyed that I kind of miss those days...Again, though, I'm grateful for the pictures that can bring me back to those special times. We get a lot of Moms that deliver at either Morristown Hospital or St. Barnabas in Livingston, NJ. I'd say those are the top two I hear of and the third would be St. Clare's in Denville, NJ. Morristown's labor and delivery unit delivers about 500 babies a month. When the hospital told me that, I was shocked. Wow, where are all of these babies? I worked for bella baby photography as a newborn baby photography at Morristown Hospital for a short while and left in February 2020. I had my studio already and realized I couldn't have two jobs plus a family to take care of. Yes, I'm a mom of 2 teenagers and I can attest that the time flies by and there's simply not enough of it. Do the things on your to do list, get as much time in with them as you can and find joy in each stage. It's not easy; I was a stay at home mom for a while, involved in PTA, class mom duties, dance mom, scout mom, coach; I wore many hats when they were young, during their "worship" years as a doula once put it to me. It's the years they really want only you, and they can't bare to be away from you. Enjoy it, because once the teen years it, it's a different story; atleast in our home it is.....
