It's that time again!  It's time to update your headshot or get your first headshot this September.  One day only, Friday, September 24, 2021 at Millie Dee Photography Studio, 172 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.  You can call the studio 973.805.FOTO or fill out the inquiry form on the website to inquire about sessions.  
Sessions will run 30 minutes. There will also be some pre-session work.  You may be saying, wait...what??  Thirty minutes?  For one photo?  Pre session "work"?  What is this all about?
Your headshot is not like speed dating, you don't just sit on the chair, i click a few shots, hope for the best and you're on your way...no..there's actually quite a bit more to a headshot.  I want to get in your head a little bit and ask some questions about what you do, where do you see yourself in 1-3 years?  What do you do for a living?  What do you WANT to do for a living?  What should these images say about you?  What "vibe" are you going for?  For instance, if you're a counselor, would you want to portray a power look?  probably not, right?  You want to give off more of a relaxed look perhaps?  Whether you're a professor, hairdresser, realtor, athlete, in the corporate world or the creative world, you want to portray something in your images.  Let's discuss this a bit before you walk in the door.
Let's discuss wardrobe, grooming, I have hair and makeup people as an option for you as well.  If you're having professional pictures taken, I always feel its a good idea to go big. You don't do this every day and these pictures will be with you for a while, all over social media, LinkedIn, perhaps a blog that you write? a photo signature?  
I know for some, well most, the headshot is usually a necessity and not something you really want to do, so I make it a fun experience. I have coffee, tea, water, snacks, we'll turn on your favorite music and then we will talk a little, I'll guide you through wardrobe, guide you through expressions, through posing and click away capturing images that will showcase the feeling you want to portray in your images.  The last 10 minutes of the 30 minute session will be spent looking through the images we took, discussing which ones you'd like to keep and the editing process.

Millie Dee Photography's Christmas Sessions with Santa for the 2021 Season have started to open.  First Choice Bookings are currently open for current clients & our email list.  If any sessions are left after these bookings, we'll open up registration to the general public on August 30th.  If you'd like to be receive an email about when general public registration will open, please send us an email milliedee2017@gmail.com  
With so much going on again this year, Santa is getting into the studio to see your children very early; in fact we will see Santa before Halloween.

​Saturday, October 9th is our big day with Santa this year.  Since we only have one day with the big guy, our bookings are extremely limited.  If you click the video above, you'll find out a little about what we're offering your child(ren) this year.  However, I don't want to give all of the magical details of the session away, so please call the studio to learn more about this year's offerings.

How great is my job that I get to work with Santa every year?  I'm looking forward to seeing him with your kids again this year.  Last year, he read books to some of the kids, shared snacks with some kids, danced around, told jokes, he even took pictures with a few puppies, too (because who doesn't love Santa?)

Sessions will run 20 minutes, so yes, that means your child(ren) will have a full 20 uninterrupted minutes with the most popular North Pole dweller during the Christmas Season. I can't wait to tell you about the fun we have planned for your kids.

 So, those that know my work, whom have possibly visited my Instagram:  millie_dee_photo or my website: www.milliedeephotography.com, know that I am a studio photographer.  I love love love my studio in the Landing section of Roxbury Township, New Jersey.  I offer maternity there, along with newborn and headshots and seasonal Holiday photos as well.  
Directly across from my studio is a park.  A nice sized park with three softball fields, a walking path and a playground for little ones.  When this mom asked me for outdoor portraits, I hesitated, but thought, why not?  Not only do we have this beautiful park across the street, but the back of the mall I'm located in has a beautiful rock wall and little overgrown path that would be perfect for some portraits.  So we planned it.
Mom came in, had her hair and makeup done by the fantastically talented @Desiree Tunnerro and we headed outside as it was a gorgeous spring day out.  
As we're in the overgrown path taking some pictures, we can hear the landscapers getting closer and closer and we were close to an area that they needed to landscape, so we ended up moving to the rock wall.  
At the rock wall, we could see a couple of the barbers from the barbershop on their break, so I asked one of them to help out with a standard dress flip.  What a good sport, Thanks, Steve @fresh cutz barbershop!  He had no idea what i was asking him to do, but he did an awesome job with a fabric toss!  Right after that, two guys had told us that they were getting ready to open up the sewer line and that it was going to smell really bad really quickly.  So....we ended up moving again.
We had a gown change and then we headed across the street into the back part of the park with all of the gorgeous greenery.  Don't you think, there was some Dude just kind of walking in the back of some of the photos...(really??).  This day was comical.  This mama and I couldn't help but giggle through the entire session over what was happening around us.
We took some photos then walked a bit to the other side of the park for a few more, then we ended the session, time was up and we took alot of gorgeous photos.  As we're getting mom settled into the back of my car, we're realizing there were probably 10 ticks if there was one embedded in the gown!  Oh No!  as soon as i parked, i had her strip out of the dress. (yes, she had a layer underneath the gown so she wasn't naked), but I didn't want it on her body any longer than it had to be.  
We checked her, and I stored the gown outside and ripped the ticks out before bringing it to get washed.  This was a such a memorable and fun session with this gorgeous mama, who was celebrating her second pregnancy in these portraits. 
My only regret is not getting more behind the scenes photos of everything that was going on around us, sometimes what goes on behind the scenes could be its own photo session in itself.

National Rainbow Baby Day is August 22, 2021 

I had no idea what the term rainbow baby meant until I started photographing babies.  A rainbow baby is a precious life born into a family after either a miscarriage, stillbirth or death of an infant due to natural causes.  This precious new life represents the rainbow that comes after the storm and all of the promise that comes with bringing a new baby into this world.  

In working with families, mostly mothers who have gone through this experience, there are of course many questions, but hesitations as well.  I have witnessed in my clients the fear is what if it happens again?  How excited do you let yourself get?  How much anxiety is there before each routine doctor's appointment?  

In our photosessions, parents often ask to honor the past baby that was lost.  We do that by incorporating rainbows into the photographs or trinkets or photos the parents decide to bring in.  It's a small but deeply meaningful tribute that brings Moms and families some peace.   
I post this a few days early and Rainbow baby day is coming up on August 22, 2021.  Many blessings to all of the families that have been touched by these circumstances.
